More Gardening

Lyla and I worked this Thursday on digging up some sod in the front yard so we can plant some ornamental grasses in its place. She was a great little helper and loved riding in the wheelbarrow and directing me.

After all our hard work we headed over to her cousin's house. Lyla was pooped and sacked out while Bliss and I worked hard on creating a flower garden of her own. We were so tired we forgot to take a picture of the final product, but her garden turned out great!

Tuesday Outing

Today we went out to my old workplace and enjoyed some fresh air and sunshine. It was the perfect day for a walk on the trails. Lyla led the way.

After our hike, we explored the stream. Lyla is really interested in water right now and she had so much fun reaching into the water and watching leaves float down the stream.

Wow! Look how tall Lyla is now! She can reach the door knob!

Okay, so not really! They have a small room called the Little House that is geared towards the little ones and even has a little door just their size.

As you can see we had the whole room to ourselves. It was fun! We read books (3 books closer to our goal of 100! Check out how were doing!), played with puzzles, explored the materials, and enjoyed some quiet play time. It was the perfect place to wind down after our hike.

Lyla was passed out in the car about a minute after we started driving home. It was the perfect outing which I think we will try to repeat next week if the weather is still as beautiful.

Baby Stroller

Last night we pulled out a toy that Santa brought Junebug at Christmas. It wasn't something she could have played with back then, so we thought it would be nice to store it away until she was big enough to play with it. Here are some videos of her playing with her new baby doll and stroller.

Here she is giving kisses to her baby...so adorable!

She had so much fun pushing the stroller around the house and practicing her walking skills!

Gardening

The weather was absolutly beautiful today! What a nice surprise after the dreary day we had yesterday. Since the sun was shining we decided to head out to the front garden to do some work today. Lyla decided she wasn't interested in staying down for a long nap after storytime, so she hung out in the garden with me. She loves chillin' out in the pack-n-play playing with her toys and watching me dig in the dirt.

Last week we worked on the backyard. It has been an ongoing work in progress for the past 5 years. Now, I am trying to make it a bit more kid friendly. I planted some grass seed in the bare spot so Lyla will have nice green space to roll around in. Check back soon to see what it looks like with grass

Since I got to dig in the dirt for hours on end, it was only fair that Lyla get to do some digging herself! The yard isn't quite baby ready yet, so she got to dig around in her new sandbox her Grandma and Grandpa gave her! She loves grabbing the sand and watching it fall from her hands.

Kisses

Miss Lyla has learned to give kisses which is super cute.

Food Phases

The last time I wrote about Lyla's eating habits, she was sitting in the tub. It seems like we are willing to do almost anything to get this kid to eat! She seems to switch what she wants to do on a daily basis. A week or so ago she was enjoying her pureed baby food and would not touch any textured foods. Then out of the blue she tried a "puff" and her eating habits took a u-turn... I think there were even two days when she would eat nothing but puffs...
She finally tried out the Mum Mum's we bought her...(which she now won't touch.) Maybe she thinks to herself "Been there, done that, whats next?"

We tried serving her first pancake to her on Valentine's day. They were Banana Cinnamon and totally delicious. She wanted nothing to do with it and would only open up for her puffs.

We found out one evening that all she wanted to do was feed herself. She scooped up a few of her sweet potatoes and some of her applesauce some of it actually making it into her mouth. She, and the kitchen floor, were a total mess but at least we had some fun.

Today she woke up and decided that she would eat everything! She downed a whole serving of peach rice pudding and almost an entire jar of peas (her first veggie in weeks!) she also ate her cereal like a champ and of course her latest fav: HappyBaby puffs.

Night time trick

This is a new trick we thought of to help Lyla sleep longer in the night. A bowl of cereal before bed...but the only time she will sit quietly to eat it is in her bath. It is actually the perfect place to feed her because it is convenient for cleaning her up afterwards! Usually she hates her face to be wiped after dinner, but she is fine with it in the bath!

The question is...Is it working? Well, last night Miss June bug slept from 8:00-4:00 without one of us making a trip to her room! I nursed her at 4:00 and then she went back to sleep from 4:30-7:30 for a total of 11 hours of sleep! We have also made a real commitment for me to stop nursing her in the night. What ever it is...something is working. I don't want to jinx it, but I think we are on our way to "sleeping through the night"!
